The Ministry of Science and Technology and Taiwan Tech Arena host Taiwan demo day. The event was managed by SPIRE Advisory Group (www.spireadvisorygroup.com), a Bay Area consultancy group and was hosted at the Cooley, a global law firm (www.cooley.com) in Palo Alto, CA.
On Wednesday, October 23rd, 2019, MOST and TTA organized an AI-Global Investments event where 8 promising Taiwanese start-ups showcased their unique technology. The event was attended by various VCs and funds based in the Bay Area as well as corporate ventures and academics from Stanford, UCSF and the University of California at Berkeley.
Director Tom Yeh, representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan in the Silicon Valley offered some welcoming remarks noting that the “Our (Taiwan office’s) mission is to build a network between Taiwan and the Silicon Valley to support Taiwanese start-ups and help them develop their business in the Bay area. The Taiwan Tech Arena co-host of the event is key in supporting the Taiwan start-up ecosystem”.
Some of the highlights of the event were the great insight on cross-border investments trends from panelists Sue Xu at Amino Capital, Amit Jain M&A Strategy & Investments at Z Nation Lab and Sale Kwon, Associate at Cooley. Mariah Lichtenstern Founding Partner, DiverseCity Ventures, Ankur Garg, Chief of Artificial Intelligence – Sonasoft and Hany Syed, CEO, Athleta-Ed and private equity and venture capital executive also offered some great perspective on global impact investing.
The keynote conversation on Artificial Intelligence across industries was led by Shawn Dastalmachi, CEO at Ark.one Health and Bob Rogers, AI expert in Residence at UCSF Smart Health.
